Electronic Commerce Specialization

This specialization is designed for Learners who want to become proficient in online marketing, Web-based applications, enabling methodologies, and tools for online payment and transactions. Learners will complete a final written research project, demonstrating the ability to conduct an investigation on a workplace problem, identify an area for intervention, critique, justify, and recommend a plan of preventative action.

ECM5000-8Introduction to E-CommerceAs consumers we are continually offered products and services via the Internet. In our jobs, no matter what profession we are in, E-Commerce is being used more and more to conduct business for training purposes and daily communications. This master’s level course provides introduction to E-Commerce as business and revenue models. Content focuses on technology infrastructure of E-Commerce and describes business concepts and social issues that surround the development of E-Commerce. In addition, students will also explore E-Commerce in action by focusing on real-world E-Commerce experience in retail, services, business-to-business, auctions, portals, communities and digital online media.
ECM5001-8E-Commerce for EntrepreneursThis master’s level course is designed specifically for the entrepreneur launching an e-business. The student will investigate the nature of e-business and entrepreneurial opportunities. In addition, students will explore issues surrounding idea generation, planning and operating an e-business. Finally, students will create a prototype e-business and develop a prototype website for implementing the e-business.
ECM5004-8Managerial Electronic CommerceE-Commerce is an essential part of business. This course is designed from an interdisciplinary managerial approach, which means the course will provide the Learner with exposure to E-Commerce applications in accounting, finance, information systems, computer science, engineering, and the legal issues. The course has been constructed to provide a global real world orientation, but not at the expense of learning the theoretical aspects of E-Commerce. Learners in this course will be continually using the Internet for assignments and will exploring new and practical websites.
ECM5009-8Internet Website PromotionMost businesses in the United States now utilize websites to actively promote their business and provide greater exposure and visibility to their products and services online. Understanding and knowing how to effectively use the Internet has become an important requirement for students who want to enter the field of business. The graduate must provide the leadership and have the most up to date knowledge of the types of tools and methods a company can use to generate the greatest traffic to their web site. This course will examine a wide variety of Internet based tools that are being used to increase traffic to business websites.
ECM6010-8Electronic Commerce Research Project This course requires the graduate Learner to complete a set of progressive exercises regarding a specific subject area of electronic commerce that incorporates analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of research methods. The Learner will complete a signature exercise in order to demonstrate the ability to synthesize theoretical and conceptual knowledge, professional application, ethical implications, and fundamental areas of research methods and critiques in their chosen field of specialization. Evaluation of peer-reviewed journal articles will include case studies, research studies, real-world scenarios, reports, seminar proceedings, theories, practicum, postulates, and any other scholarly, peer-reviewed data that will complement the specific area of program emphasis.
